TR to stay open … (for now)
30 April, 2010
Council has sent written notification to Theatre Managers indicating the Shire requires more time to receive information and authority from the CFA before issuing the Theatre Royal its first Occupancy Permit in 152 years.
For legal reasons, the Shire cannot lift the Emergency Order currently in place until it receives this information from the CFA and the occupancy permit is issued.
Despite advising the Theatre Royal last week that it would be closed and fined by COB today (30 April) if works required in the order were still outstanding, the Shire has now indicated ‘no further action will be taken at this stage’.
Council is organising an urgent meeting to discuss matters outstanding and time required to complete works, and will most likely take place early next week.
This isn’t over yet, but management is hopeful.
In the meantime, get down to Hargraves St and support the theatre.
