The Ultranet is an overweight facebook site.
The Ultranet is causing tension in the city aswell. In a recent 3 hour PD session it dropped out 3 times, our group were told to set up content the wrong way causing hours of extra after school time and we found out the interface has been updated since going live to staff. It fails to show some icons consistently on both mac and PC platforms.
Performance review time should be interesting for many teachers across the state who are trying to present the content they are uploading.
Teachers should expect to spend a lot of personal time producing very little for an audience that for may not always be able to use it.

Thank you so much for publishing this article. I am a primary school teacher and lead user of the Ultranet. Next week I have my yearly review with the principal and I am aware that one of the criteria I need to address is my use of the Ultranet within my classroom. I am well aware that the expectation (not to mention the subtle pressure) is that I will be full of enthusiasm for this initiative, however the truth is that at this point I am also a sceptic. I don't want to go into my review telling an untruth and so hopefully your article will help me artculate my concerns better than I would have otherwise done.
