Greenlight Online Planning Permit Manager goes live

13 July, 2010

To improve the planning permit services provided by the Mount Alexander Shire Council, a new online planning permit system has gone live on the Council website this week.

Greenlight Online Permit Manager (OPM) allows developers and residents to submit their planning permit applications online, receive correspondence by email and monitor the status of their own applications 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the world wide web.

Once the application is in the system, planners can manage the assessment of the application entirely through Greenlight OPM until a final decision is made. This will decrease manual handling of paper and files and allow all necessary information to be accessed from the officers desktop.

You will also be able view applications that are currently on exhibition via the Council website, greatly expanding the accessibility of the public to planning information that in the past has only been available by attending the Council offices. If a person has concerns about an exhibited proposal an objection can also be lodged online. In addition, permits that have been issued since 2006 and the associated endorsed plans, are available for viewing.

Greenlight OPM was initally developed to met the planning needs of the Hobsons Bay Council, and is now used by a number of Victorian councils including Macedon Ranges, Moorabool and Moira.

Greenlight’s online capabilities will improve the service provided by Council to the community in relation to planning permits by increasing access to information for both applicants, planning staff and the wider population. Greenlight is now available on Council’s website at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au
