Sustainable tourism is here
27 July, 2010
More than 350 people visited Castlemaine on Saturday for the State of Design Festival Open House Day. The day was a partnership between Mount Alexander Sustainability Group and the Alternative Technology Association.
Six Castlemaine homes were selected for inclusion in the festival because they showcased contemporary sustainable design at its best. They included a retrofitted heritage home, a converted portable classroom and four newly constructed energy-efficient, passive solar houses.
With over 200 people on the waiting list, this type of event is clearly in demand. Stay tuned for other open houses in the near future.
