Free training

14 August, 2010

Local community and not for profit groups are encouraged to take advantage of a series of free training sessions to improve their organisation’s  knowledge and skills.

The training sessions will start in August and run through to June next year. The first session will focus on strategic planning and will take place from 10.15am to 2pm on Wednesday August 25, at the City of Greater Bendigo’s Lyttleton Terrace Offices. A light lunch will be included. So there is such a thing as a free lunch.Places are limited and interested people are asked to register early by phoning Deb Simpson on 5434 6261 or email to d.simpson@bendigo.vic.gov.au

“Not for profit groups don’t often have the opportunity to access this type of training because it can be very costly and difficult to access,” saidf Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Rod Campbell.

“Trainers from ‘Our Community’ – Australia’s largest provider of training and resources for the community sector – will facilitate all of the sessions and future sessions will cover a range of topics such as sourcing and managing grants; project planning, evaluating and reporting; web-based communications; staff performance reviews and sound financial practices.

“The topics covered by these sessions have been selected based on feedback that has been received from many different groups in relation to their knowledge and skills development needs.”

Dates and times for upcoming sessions will be advertised soon.
