The old One Nation Party has reared its ugly head in Castlemaine in the form of an extreme right-wing video posted on a website allegedly run by a Mt Alexander Shire councillor.

Phrases such as ‘minorities rule in Australia’, ‘Australia is being ‘eaten alive by foreign parasites’, Greens and Labor are a ‘creeping manifestation of a malignant cancer’ afflicting Western society, and memorably, the Cronulla riots were ‘Aussie kids’ rebelling against ‘the theft of their future’, are a ‘feature’ of the video.

The video is narrated by a character named Lyn Vickery, who, like Pauline Hanson before him, wraps his twisted logic in his love of country. The video is introduced by a burst from the Nathional Anthem and winds up with another burst. In between the bursts is a concentrated spray of venom, perverted arguments, and plain, good old-fashioned hatred.

This is the little man pissed off at the Chinese down the street or the Sudanese cultural festival supported by his tax dollars.

Vickery says that those immigrants who do not ‘fully integrate’, should ‘get out’ or be ‘thrown out’.

The Bolsheviki are on the march again

‘Far left socialists and communists’ are running our education system, Australia’s immigration system is ‘misguided compassion’, and ‘…productive members of society … are made to support welfare policies that encourage legions of do-nothings, who lie around revelling in their addictions and their obesity, their indolence and their ignorance, and of course their disabilities’.

This raises an alarming question about what Vickery and his supporter(s) believe we should do with obese people on welfare, ignorant alcoholics who smoke, junkies, and people who lie around on weekends suffering weekend motivation deficit disorder.

Vickery’s hate video raises the awful spectre of eugenics. If ‘productive members of society’ (ie people like Vickery who produce hate videos) don’t like supporting these losers, the thesis would run, then they should do something about it. As a society we should stop supporting them. What should we do with them?

Who knows?

Vickery stares coldly into the camera and you start to feel uneasy watching him. A quick google search, however, indicates just what a sad little fantasist the fellow is.

Unless our Mt Alexander Shire councillor has swelled the organisation’s ranks, Vickery seems to be the founder and sole member of an organisation called ‘Global Action’. The opening paragraph of the Global Action webisite reads like something from Hitler’s Mein Kampf:

Whew. He’s got a few of us in his sights. The old Bolshevik international parasites are at it again. (But, didn’t Trotsky or Stalin or someone, you know, get rid of them?)

If Vickery had eight million men goose-stepping behind him he’d be cooking up an invasion of the Sudetenland or Poland.

At the moment, though, it’s only his budgie and the odd Mt Alexander Shire councillor that get a bit of prickly heat up when he talks about ‘Bolshevik internationalist parasites’.

Vickery is the founder of GA International, GA Great Britain, and GA USA. The websites are still to be populated. He appears to be the founder, President, Chair and voting member, all in one. The parasites are out there, though.

Cr Brook Acklom

Mt Alexander Shire Cr Brook Acklom has a history of supporting interesting causes. A web search turns up letters he has written supporting Andrew Bolt, debunking climate change and further fascinating information.

Cr Acklom allegedly runs the website where the Vickery hate video appeared, Castlemaine Truth. Castlemaine Truth devoted itself to debunking global warming, sneering at everything to do with renewable energy, sniggering at Council support of arts, environmental and community activities in the shire, and taking swipes at figures such as Bob Brown, Julia Gillard, and even, shock horror, Castlemaine Independent.

A posting on the website earlier this year warned readers away from CI, advising readers that  CI would ‘please the local self-styled artists and pseudo intelligentsia. Some discretion should be used if allowing minors to visit it as offensive language is contained in some articles.’

We sent Cr Acklom emails last Friday and Saturday asking him did he support the sentiments in the Vickery video – ‘posted without comment’ – on Castlemaine Truth, and by Monday the website had been transformed into a paragon of fairness and virtue, tracking the Victorian elections, with equal weight given to Labor, Liberal, Nationals and Greens. The old site is now password-protected and inaccessible.

Nothing to see here folks, move right along.

We asked Cr Acklom what his opinion was of Sudanese immigration to Australia and specifically, the Sudanese and African community in Castlemaine. Chinese residents of Castlemaine?

Did he support One Nation?

He has not responded to our emails and at the time of this posting has not returned our phone call 24 hours ago.
