The Castlemaine Quirk #1

11 June, 2012

This intriguing little bit of kit is in downtown Castlemaine. What street is it on? What was its purpose? Come back to CI on Friday and we'll let you know!

The Castlemaine Quirk is a series where readers are challenged to guess the where, what and why of the content in a photo.

Extravagant (even absurd) guesses are most welcome.

We’re also inviting readers to submit your own quirks. The quirk you choose needs to be publicly accessible and should be of some historical, cultural or artistic merit. It’s a show and tell opportunity, and CI readers can learn something about Castlemaine they didn’t know before.

As for prizes … sorry.

But the KUDOS is enormous. Just like the word.

On Frederick St on east side gutter near intersection with Mostyn St. Looks like the eye bolt would be used for securing block & tackle for winching things into the second story of the Bendigo Bank building . . .
