A man on a mission
31 July, 2012
Josh Murdoch is a young man pursuing a dream. The Castlemaine Secondary College student is personalising his learning to take him to where he wants to be. For Murdoch, his dream is to work in the media, to make films and as he says: ‘to bring things to life using cameras, lighting and editing’.
Murdoch’s strategy sees him not only take advantage of all media subjects offered at CSC, but to seize any relevant co-curricular opportunities at the school, and look beyond for any media opportunities not only in central Victoria but across Australia.
In one opportunity, Murdoch entered a competition he heard about at school titled BACK ME UP; a challenge inviting young people 13-17 to make a short video addressing the topical issue of cyberbullying. And the prizes are something young Murdoch could only dream about. Ten winners will receive a week-long, all-expenses paid trip to Sydney to attend a prestigious NIDA film-making workshop.
If you’d like to support Murdoch, watch his film and cast a vote, this may be the next step in turning his passion into a career pathway. Videos and voting can be found here
